Day #6 on the road to Lorca early

We woke up at 6:00 and were packed and shod and on our way by 6:25, but just as we left town, Marty realized she didn't have her hat, so it was 6:35 by the time we walked out of town by the light of our head lamps.  A mother and daughter from Morro Bay followed us because they didn't have lights.
It is wonderfully pleasant to walk in the cool of the morning.  We found a minuscule market in Obanos where we bought sausage, cheese and bread for the road, and now we are enjoying coffee and a chocolate croissant as we enter Puente la Reina.

Our hope is to get to Lorca today before the heat of the day about 8 miles from here which would give us a total of about 11 miles walking today.  But, of course we find that our plan doesn't always work and something better happens.

  1. What is shod? I think I know but want your def. I love the idea of little Marty and nancy spelunking with other Americans. Glad you have not abandoned the hedonistic pleasure of cheese sausage and bread. I wish I was on this trek with you.

  2. Shod is having one's shoes on - usually used to refer to horses, which is what I feel like carrying this pack. Wish you were here too!

  3. It sounds like the perfect packing job is working. Not one extra thing on your back.
How are the feet holding out?
