Day #3. Viskarret to Larrasoaña

This seemed a harder day- very hot and lots of long gravlelly downs and ups.  We left Viskarret after a quick cup of coffee at about 8:00.,,, a bit late because I didn't sleep well.  Go figure - room for just Marty and I, quiet, private and I couldn't sleep.  Different story today.  We arrived in Larrasoaña at 4:00 just in time to get the 2 last beds in the Albergue Municipal:  top bunks in different rooms with mostly men.

After a long hot walk we were rewarded with a beautiful little town, Zubiri, where there was an ancient bridge over a river where we stopped and soaked our feet and Marty bought a much needed knee brace.  We are signed up for a pilgrim supper at 7:00, and I just enjoyed a very large beer.

  1. Mañana, ¡Pamplona! Si llegan temprano, podrán quedarse en el albergue municipal Jesús y María, que es excelente, ¡suerte! ¡abrazos! ¡besos!

    1. We may bypass Pamplona because we are told that tomorrow the Tour d'Espagne bicycle race is there with huge crowds. We are too tired for huge crowds.

  2. On your next etapa try to stay at Puente la Reina, it´s one of the nicest towns along the Camino, with a spectacular bridge. After Puente la Reina - and before Iruña comes Alto del Perdón. Going up there is OK, but coming down kills your knees. Eat many bananas and plenty orange juice. Sending your backpacks ahead would help much.

  4. Ugh. Just wrote a long entry and it disappeared when I tried to prove I was not a robot. In so bummed that your luxury night was restless. Hopefully the beer night makes the difference and that the men you slept with were not snorers. I love the blog. I check it several times a day but have not seen an entry since day one. Now tonight I get 6 days. Sorry that my responses are do delayed. My love and my enthusiasm for your trip are intact. My tech skills on the blogosphere leave much to be desired. XO kev
